Mindset

The BIG STUFF of health and happiness. It’s so easy to get bogged down in the details of health and neglect the BIG STUFF. But the big stuff is where your attention needs to be — checking health boxes every single day…

It’s all about feeling good! If you ponder it deeply, you’ll see that everything, without fail, is done to so that you can feel good. Feeling good is everyone’s ultimate aim — the problem is that we can get confused about where to find these good feelings we’re after.

Avoid pain by being proactive. Every chronic disease state has many causes, with every one being sub-optimal lifestyle over a long time frame. The same causes manifest in different diseases depending on the personal interplay of genetics and causes.

Why you shouldn’t have blind faith in your doctor. Conventional medicine, as practiced by doctors, is a seriously flawed paradigm. It’s simply clear to see that it doesn’t work for chronic disease, which is what causes 99% of the suffering out there.

How do you measure success in life? Having lots of money is a nice thing — it means you don’t have to worry about money. But having a fatter wage check, a bigger house or a bigger car… these things alone won’t make you happy, not in the long run.

One of the biggest mindset ideas you need. Your body is the product of nature and we don’t need to know how it works. All we need to do is look after it — feed it well, rest it well, exercise it well and so-on. Give your mind and body what they need.

Habits and change

Your lifestyle blueprint. If you want to build a house, you don’t start by calling the brick layer! With house building it’s obvious you need to start with a plan but with your health and happiness; not so obvious. :-)

Why is it so hard to change? Everything’s against us when it comes to change. There are a few big reasons why change is so hard. And they conspire together to make sure that it’s virtually impossible for some people to make the changes needed to be happy and healthy.

Your pact — a sure-fire step to a new you. It’s just a decision but a decision with a difference… it’s unshakable! It’s the kind of decision we would make for our children; calm, solid, good decisions for the best long-term outcome.

Automatic health. Your body is an incredibly complex biosystem that needs some pretty simple inputs to keep it working beautifully. All we need to do is figure out what the best inputs are and keep on doing them… systemize.

HABIT POWER laid bare. I’m always banging on about the power of habit. Habits are at the root of all outcomes, good or bad because habit is the power that repeats behavior. But habits can be so subtle and automatic, that it’s difficult to see JUST how powerful they are…

Take baby steps. When we identify a change we want to make and take action, we usually fall flat on our face because the change was too big and that causes pain and misery. What most people do then is pick an even bigger step…

Faith in the finish line. Often when we make a change the initial effect is that we feel worse. Say you’ve decided to change your sleep routine for the better, or cut out gluten. That can make us feel worse in the short term. That’s when you need “faith in the finish line.”

Eat and drink the right stuff

What is a natural diet for a human being? In all our dietary confusion these days, surely this question is the one we should start with? Researchers it seems, analyze the tiny details of this and that and very little attention is paid to the big picture…

Human food. Can we come up with a simple diet that works, when there’s so much genetic difference in the world? Is there a single natural human diet that will work for all? The solution is natural human foods: fruits, vegetables, animal foods, nuts and seeds.

The three pillars of the Happy Guide diet. If you want to know the best diet for your health and go looking, what you find is CONFUSION. Every permutation imaginable is out there, and touted as dietary salvation. So how are we to make any sense of it?

Eat and drink the right stuff. The Happy Guide diet is a big step back to eating natural human foods — the foods we evolved to eat over millions of years; primarily fruits, vegetables, nuts/seeds, meat, poultry, seafood and eggs.

7 easy diet tweaks to supercharge your health overnight. These are easy things. And yet the difference to your long term health by doing them is like night and day. It can mean the difference between health and happiness or disease down the road.

How to balance omega-3 and omega-6. Basically, it’s about eating oily fish a few times a week as well as other fish and seafood and avoiding omega-6 fats as much as possible. You don’t have to worry about getting enough omega-6 fats, there’s plenty in common foods.

How to get your calcium and magnesium balance right. Calcium and magnesium balance is very important and over the long term, will affect your health in dramatic ways — for your heart, your bones, your energy, and your mind.

Be free from drugs

How to avoid illness. Does science and medicine really have the answers to avoiding illness? Will there ever be a reliable cure for cancer, heart disease or diabetes through modern medicine? Or for that matter, a cure for the common cold?

Get organized

One of the best good habits to have. Think of your day as a kind of “dance” that’s unique to you. Your dance needs to automatically take care of everything that matters to you and create the thing you really want — happiness.

Live in the moment

What does meditation do for you? If I had to sum up the benefits of meditation in one word it would be this one: SANITY. Once you’ve tried meditation for a while, you’ll see clearly that the way you were before was kind of like a bad dream.

How to start meditating. Meditation is about returning to a natural state of being and a peaceful state of mind. It’s about being yourself, essentially. It’s a very simple thing too, with incredible power when practiced consistently. All you do is listen for the next thought…

Sit don’t wobble — Zen and the art of mindfulness. Keep your mind on what you’re doing and be aware of thoughts that pop — like the proverbial stone thrown into the still lake. In this state, thoughts which surface are exactly the ones we need at that precise moment.
