How to get motivated to be healthy

Motivated for health
© Anirudh Koul

One of the most common things people say to me when they’ve read Happy Guide is that they feel…

MOTIVATED

Every time I re-read Happy Guide, I get a very strong sense of motivation at the end. Now that is something really worth having…

Happy Guide leaves you feeling “I can DO this!”

That feeling is one of the keys. That feeling combined with the clarity and simplicity of “what to do” will start moving you towards a happier, healthier way of life…

If you’re anything like me, you’ve had times where you felt just plain LOST in a fog of confusion. “Why do I feel so bad? What can I do? Why me? What went wrong? Why am I self-destructing!?” Continue reading “How to get motivated to be healthy”

The importance of lifestyle

Just recently I’ve been working a bit too hard.

My passion for getting the “lifestyle” message out there and helping people avoid the intense suffering I went through, means I sometimes neglect my own message!

OK it doesn’t happen very often but when it does, the truth of it is brought into sharp relief. We all know the effect of a few late nights combined with poor diet.

It’s really easy to take our eye off the ball and forget that health should be number one — top priority. Healthy living should be the thing at the top of our list of things-to-do… Continue reading “The importance of lifestyle”

How to solve your problems

Do you keep going around and around the same old stuff in your brain and getting nowhere?

WHATEVER your problems, I can tell you from experience that solving them involves surprising solutions.

When we have problems, the usual response is to change something external, “I need a new x, he needs to stop doing y.”

But what you REALLY need to change is YOURSELF. Then you SEE from a new vantage point, become inspired, intuitive, creative. From your new vantage point, things automatically shift!

So if your life is full of problems and it seems you are going around and around and getting nowhere, frustrated, then change the inner you. When you are HAPPY, when you have abundant ENERGY, imagine how you will SEE things so differently… Continue reading “How to solve your problems”

The power of attention

Boy stares at pebble, the power of attention
© Sweet Marjoram

What you resist persists. What you push against you give life to, because it’s all about attention.

We have preferences, choices, so choose with your attention. Remove attention from things you don’t want to experience. Resistance just makes them bigger.

If a thought comes to mind you don’t like, don’t try to get rid of it. Simply notice it, let it be, let it go and remove your attention. If a situation NEEDS your attention to get a resolution, then focus on “What’s the desired outcome?” Clarify that.

You can’t get rid of what you don’t want by paying more attention to it.

Mother Teresa was once asked if she would go to an anti-war rally. She said…

“No, but tell me when there is a peace rally and I’ll be there.”

She knew that focus on peace brings peace, focus on war brings war. That’s incredible information when you really ponder it. What are the different feelings in the two scenarios? Anti-war vs. peace? Mother Teresa understood the power of attention and feelings.

If anything comes into your life or your mind you don’t want, then turn attention to its opposite and make that bigger instead — clarify and give life to the positive desire.

How to change your life

© Toni Blay

For many years I was a mess; struggling to function, struggling to find a way to get healthy.

What you really need when you want to change your life is a new mindset, new ideas, the RIGHT ideas — a crystal clear VISION…

I wanted and needed answers but those answers were very, very hard to find.

I saw doctors, specialists, read books, took vitamins, tried new ideas… all to no avail. UNTIL… I found the real keys to health… Continue reading “How to change your life”

© CollegeDegrees360

I lived in a dark fog for 13 years as a zombie with a permanent “hangover from hell.” I had constant dizziness, no energy, depression, low blood pressure and a very low quality of life. This continued relentlessly for 13 long years without relief.

But with only lifestyle changes, my brain woke up, I started to laugh again, and life was worth living. Here are my most important life lessons, in a nutshell…

A cure for all ills

© Fernando Sanchez

Is there really a cure for all ills? Let me tell you a quick story…

Today, I received a short email from a lady asking me how I healed from 13 years of M.E. (CFS). She said she had it herself and naturally, wanted to get better…

It suddenly occurred to me that maybe James and I had gone in completely the wrong direction, in writing an all-encompassing book called Happy Guide. I thought maybe we should have focused specifically on “How to overcome chronic fatigue syndrome.”

So crisis! For a moment it was massive… Continue reading “A cure for all ills”

What is homeostasis?

Homeostasis, perfect balance
© Woodleywonderworks

Homeostasis is balance.

It’s perfect balance of all systems in your body — biological harmony and purity.

Homeostasis is when your body is totally on top of its house-keeping.

Total order…

It’s an abundance of inner resources for the amazing intelligence that is your body to do its thing.

That’s why kids are usually so joyful. They have very little emotional baggage or wrong ideas and they have high vitality, inner resources, inner purity — homeostasis.

It’s a beautiful concept… Continue reading “What is homeostasis?”

Avoid pain by being proactive

Two girls thumbs up!
Feeling good!

Chronic diseases like heart disease, cancer and diabetes — the diseases that are causing the most suffering, are actually called lifestyle diseases.

The statistics are frightening: 1 in 10 are depressed, 1 in 3 obese, and autism now impacts 1 in 88 children. 1,500 Americans die from cancer every single day.

Every chronic disease state has many causes, with every one being sub-optimal lifestyle over a long time frame.

The same causes manifest in different diseases depending on the personal interplay of genetics and causes. Some of these are:

  • Consumption of vegetables oils high in omega-6. The combination of polyunsaturated fats with sugar is very damaging e.g. fries and coke.
  • Not enough omega-3.
  • Excess carbohydrates.
  • Excess calories.
  • Sugar and white flour.
  • Mineral deficiencies, particularly low levels of protective magnesium and iodine.
  • Vitamin deficiencies — vitamin C, needed for the integrity of the blood vessel walls, and of antioxidants like selenium and vitamin E, which protect us from free radicals. Vitamins A, B12 and K2 are deficient in most people.
  • Lack of antimicrobial fats from animal fats and tropical oils.
  • Toxins from food and chemicals in our environment.
  • Not enough sunshine causing vitamin D deficiency.
  • Not enough exercise.
  • Stress.
  • Anti-nutrients especially in grains cause gut inflammation and damage villi which means poor nutrient absorption. This is a key cause of autoimmune diseases.
  • Food deplete of its natural nutrition because of industrial agriculture.

If chronic disease is caused by these factors and more over a long time frame, it’s very clear to see that drugs cannot heal, cannot correct these causes.

Cause and effect

If we stick our hand in the fire it burns, the cause and effect is obvious. But the damage from sub-optimal lifestyle is delayed and unclear. By the time we get sick, it can be hard to connect the dots.

And the human body is amazingly resilient, for example, liver function can be reduced to a small amount of its optimal and you wouldn’t have any symptoms. And often the first appearance of heart problems is a fatal heart attack.

Beware your own vitality

I know that sounds very strange — to beware of vitality, the very thing we want. But your own vitality can very easily lead you into a false sense of security. Your own vitality can make you think you’re fine when really, your current lifestyle could be chipping away at your health bit by bit.

Being chronically ill is a nightmare on so many levels. Please don’t go there. By being proactive you can keep your health bank account topped up and give your body what it naturally needs. It’s a lot simpler than you might imagine once you get into the right habits.
