Happy Guide reader Clair Whitty writes a “Natural Lifestyle” column for The People newspaper in Ireland.
Clair enjoyed instant results with Happy Guide but recently ran into a “holiday habit” problem. Below is what she told her readers. I’ve replied in the comments at the end…
Clair writes…
As many of you know I have had really good success using the guidance and tips from a book called Happy Guide. I know that many of you bought the book and I hope that you had the success that I had… Continue reading “Beware your holiday habits”→
“I have a question regarding habits. For the past so many years, I have suffered with OCD. I read an article that you wrote about how a friend of yours cured his OCD. I have learned through MUCH research, that OCD is an acquired disorder, and CAN be cured. Many of these doctors claim its genetic, and a ‘chemical imbalance’ and all this crap.
I’ve learned that it IS curable, and OCD is actually… a habit. It’s a coping mechanism for anxiety, and it’s driven by thoughts and fears. My question is, do you think Happy Guide would be able to help break the habit that is OCD?? And even eliminate it??
I ask this because I’ve come to realize that beating OCD comes down to confidence and will power. A change in thinking. However, it is hard to stick with it. I find myself reducing it, but I still have yet to eliminate it completely. What do you guys think about OCD??? Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you.”
It’s possible for anyone to still their mind, and take back control of their thoughts. I was an obsessive thinker when I was a teenager and it caused misery… thankfully I run my own head these days.
I’ve seen Mike help a number of people overcome OCD. It CAN be overcome and folks are always amazed at how simple it is, once they put what Mike tells them into practice…
For example, we recently got this email from John Woods, an OCD sufferer of many years…
“I just wanted to say that since I read this board and purchased the guide that to date I have had no issues at all. What you wrote cured me and I am totally amazed by it. I am so impressed with the results, I feel totally different and peaceful. I would love to know where you got all your information from, as I have seen so many health professionals over my problems, but none has ever come close to the advice that you give. Thanks Mike you have honestly changed my life.”
You will definitely enjoy Happy Guide Joe. Firstly because everything affects everything else, so by getting your whole lifestyle right you will feel a great deal better overall. But you will personally benefit immensely from the “Break Bad Habits” and “Live in the Moment” chapters… Continue reading “OCD — chemical imbalance or bad habit?”→

[Press Association] Weight-loss diets can reverse life-threatening artery damage in obese individuals, a study has shown.
Low-carbohydrate “Atkins”-style diets, low fat and Mediterranean diets were equally effective, scientists found…
Tests showed that patients who went on the diets, lost moderate amounts of weight and lowered their blood pressure, developed healthier arteries.
Researchers used ultrasound to measure the wall volume and thickness of carotid arteries, which supply the brain with blood.
Thicker and heavier arteries indicated a build up of fatty deposits on the blood vessel walls, a condition known as atherosclerosis which is closely associated with heart attacks and strokes… Continue reading “How to reverse artery blockage”→
“I have known Mike since our children were about five. I had suffered with O.C.D. for a long time since my mid-twenties.
I confided in Mike about my anxieties and thoughts on food. He advised me how to deal with this. I couldn’t believe that it could be so simple, so I continued for years more trying to solve the problem, to rationalize it, only making things worse and worse… Continue reading “OCD testimonial”→
The answer is yes, with a bit of extra “application” detail. A lot would depend on the severity of the phobia and the aim — what is the outcome wanted?
One day at work something HIT ME like a ton of bricks. It was one of those pivotal moments we have in life. I was soldering — I was an electrical engineer and my head started swimming.
In only a couple of seconds I became disoriented and straight away was lost in a fog that was to last for 13 years…
I was scared; suddenly I couldn’t function, couldn’t focus and couldn’t do normal things like drive the car.
I shut MY WHOLE LIFE down. It was a knee-jerk reaction that was probably the wrong move but I didn’t know what else to do. I lost everything and I mean… EVERYTHING… Continue reading “How did Happy Guide come about?”→
I often write about my friend who has “OCD” — obsessive compulsive disorder. Because the issues he faces are the same ones we all face.
His are just more extreme, more obsessive but they’re the same. Just two days after giving his full effort to just one simple technique he called me…
“I’m cured,” he said.
This was after months of severe anxiety states. He was shaking a lot of the time, sweating heavily at night. His thoughts were racing constantly and he couldn’t control them.
He had to stop work several times and his life was grinding to a halt as he avoided as much as he could and withdrew into his private world of pain.
The reason I’m telling you all this is to show you the amazing power of attention. The technique is simple — distraction…
Meditation is the ultimate life-changing experience. The point of meditation is to set you free.
In a sense, it’s the only freedom really possible, but freedom from what? You could say “Freedom from anything that isn’t really you.”
In the ordinary human experience, what we believe as “me” or “I” is thoughts about the content of our life, our body, our mind — beliefs, ideas and concepts about ourselves. None of these things is who we really are.
It’s attachment and identification to these things that stops us seeing our true selves. So, we are actually “asleep,” in the sense that there is no higher awareness that can say “oh, that was a thought (or feeling).”
Just like when you’re dreaming there’s no higher awareness that knows you’re dreaming until you start to wake up and then you can say “oh, I’m dreaming.”
When you’re fully awake, you’d say “that was a dream.” If there is no higher awareness, then there is no choice. In the “normal” level of awareness thoughts and feelings become us, because all our attention is in them. There is nothing higher — like in the dream… Continue reading “What is the point of meditation?”→
Are you in a bad mood after eating? Does your energy crash? Do you have difficulty concentrating?
The reason could well be food intolerance. I’m not a fan of the term “food intolerance” — it sounds so wishy washy for a condition that can make your life a misery. Continue reading “Bad moods after eating”→
